Our Family Heritage

We know little about the Brogans.  What we have discovered is that Catherine, who arrived as a Bounty Immigrant in 1842 was born in Ireland.  She came under the protection of the Crawford Family aboard the Nabob and first appears in the records at her marriage to Edmond Collins in 1843.

Irish roots are hard to trace as many of the records have been destroyed, but there are questions as to why such a young woman was travelling alone to Australia.  What made her leave her home and come such a long way as a bonded servant?  Had she been orphaned? Was she in disgrace?  We keep searching and hope to find the answers.
